Id like to take the opportunity to say thank you to those in my kin, and outside of the kin who have offered love and support since my mother became ill.

My mother suffered with ALS for 2.5 years. ALS is also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, or Lou Gehrig's disease. This is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. In ALS, nerve cells (neurons) waste away or die, and can no longer send messages to muscles. This eventually leads to muscle weakening, twitching, and an inability to move the arms, legs, and body. The condition slowly gets worse. When the muscles in the chest area stop working, it becomes hard or impossible to breathe on one's own.

On May 28th 2011, my brave wonderful mother lost her battle with this horrible illness.

On July 3, 2011 my family and I participated in the "sleepwalk for a cure" in Birmingham UK to help raise money to find a cure for this disease and many of you in the kin and out donated in sponsorship to help us reach and surpass our donations goal. I am very proud of the work we did and of every single person who was willing to give of themselves to help us in this very important mission.

My mother loved to write, and she wrote for many years. After her passing, my father and I took all of my mothers wonderful writings, her stories, poems, blogs and even some of her favorite recipes and we compiled them into a book which we have published for sale through LuLu.com with proceeds being donated to help fight this terrible disease that took her from us all too soon. The book is called "OldCarMama - Grandmas Don't Just Bake Cookies, and it can be purchased here http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/ldyrvnhrt  and is available in hardcover print or digital download for those who are interested.

Thank you so much to each and every one of you for taking the time to read my message and for any help you offered whether it was financial, or emotional. It is appreciated more than you will ever know.

I love you all

Brook

Sample Image    is a mature end game kinship on the Gilrain server.

Founded November 25, 2007 The Damned was started out of a desire for end game content and its spoils. Unable to find what it was we sought in the kinships we belonged to at the time, a decision was made amongst friends to form a kinship for ourselves and for so many who felt as we did. A large risk was taken, as so many kinships start and fail the same way but we welcomed the challenge.

Together, the founding members of The Damned sought out other like minded players and brought them into the ranks. We worked hard and learned together, finely tuning tactics and strategies, working together to achieve a common goal. More rapidly than we had ever hoped for, our dream became reality. 5 years later, it continues. Not only have we become knowledgeable players but we have made bonds of friendship, bonds of family. We have had our tough times, our problems our fights.  We are not perfect, but a finer kinship I could not wish for, filled with players who care not only for the kin as a whole but for one another as people.

The Damned is comprised of people over age 18, but we have been known to make exceptions for people slightly (and I do mean slightly) under age 18 under extreme circumstances. We do this on a case by case basis and reserve the right to accept or refuse any application we see fit. We would however prefer our applicants be over 18 and be subscribed players. F2P players are indeed welcome but we would like to know they will be getting the content at the end game as that is where our focus is. We do not suffer fools lightly and we do not tolerate blatant greed, disrespect or underhanded behaviour. We expect members of The Damned to do themselves and the kin proud by acting respectfully to those inside and outside of the kinship.

We are an end game kinship however we are hopeful that players at lower levels who join us will have an enthusiasm to reach the end game content and become assets not only to our social circle but eventually to our raiding team as well. We are not your basic hold your hand and drag you through it all while you sit back and have a cool drink sort of kinship. Thats not to say we wont help you. Of course we will help you, BUT our main focus is on the end game content, and that is where we would like our members' focus to be as well. The Damned love to have a good time, but we are very serious about our raiding and what we expect from our members in raids and instances.

Aside from raiding we grind traits and deeds together, we do instances together, we occasionally visit the moors as a kin or skirmish in large groups and while we are indeed an end game kinship we have casual social events like scavenger hunts occasionally to ensure that our kin members not only get their end game spoils but a hearty laugh and healthy social connection with those in the kin as well. We have a very active raid calendar and although we do not make demands that people raid every night, we do appreciate the frequent participation of our members so that events can go forward with regularity.

We welcome new challenges and rise to meet them. We welcome new members and hope that they will rise to meet the challenges with us. We pride ourselves on our teamwork abilities and our constant quest for "the next thing". Some people have called us "Elitist" and "Demanding". We arent. We are "Focused and Goal Oriented".

Some of our past raid accomplishments include server firsts on Watcher 2.0, Watcher 3.0 and the Turtle raid as well as Server second on clearing Dar Narbugud as well as having cleared Ost Dunhoth, Barad Guldur, all of ToO T1 and most of it T2 and of course... good old Draigoch. Although these accomplishments are important to us, it is more important that we enjoyed the raids and we did them as a family.

We use a DKP system for raid loot, but this does not apply to 3 and 6 man instances. Points can be earned and spent in current on level raids and skirmishes and can be spent in the same. It has proven to be a far better way to gear up the regular raiders than a random roll system and most people will find it very easy to get used to once they learn the rules.

There are stories and rumours across Gilrain about The Damned, about me, about who we are, how we act and what we are all about. All I can say is that if you don't know me or the kinship personally ... well... you get what you pay for. If you want to find out about me, or the kin... speak to us directly. I wont bite.... hard.  Smile

The dedication and determination of this kinship's members and its officers is commendable to say the least and it will continue on far into the depths of middle earth as long as the devs keep bringing us new content.

5 years and we are still here and still going strong... that says it all.

We hope you enjoy your stay in our home on the web.

See you around Middle-Earth!

Brooklyn
